My Son Joshua wrote this letter

Dear Family & Friends,

I have been nominated to represent my school and community at the National Young Scholars Program. The NYSP brings exceptional elementary school students to an interactive program located at the Occidental College in Los Angeles, Ca.The program I have chosen is the Science of Detection. I have listed the details below for your review as well as my Academic resume. As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with other high achieving students in a challenging and educational program.
Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in elementary school and were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why I am writing to you today.
My participation in the Program depends on whether I can raise $2400.00 in sponsorships. The Program tuition is $2000.00 which includes Residential Housing & a Travel Protection Plan. My travel to the program will be $300.00 and other amenity’s $100.00. I am hoping that you will assist me with part or all of these costs. My tuition must be paid no later than April 1st 2008.
